The National Rifle Association launched a new 60-second ad highlighting the importance of the Second Amendment and the Supreme Courtin this election. The ad, Four Justices, uses several of the justices own words to illustrate their opposition to Second Amendment rights. The spot is a canvas ad that will debut on Facebook this week, followed by multiple social media platforms.

The Second Amendment hangs in the balance in this election, said Chris W. Cox, executive director, NRA-ILA. There are four justices who support the individual right to keep a firearm in your home for self-defense, and four justices who do not. The next justice will be the deciding vote on our fundamental right of self-protection.

Opponents argue that Question 1 infringes on the Second Amendment and punishes law-abiding citizens. In my opinion, the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms is not affected by Question 1. The Second Amendment provides: A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

The ordinance reads: It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge or fire any type of gun or firearm within the Village boundaries, regardless of whether the discharge be propelled by compressed air, gas, gunpowder, spring or any other means, except upon premises designated as a duly licensed gun club, shooting range or target practice facility. This section does not apply to the discharge of firearms by police in the course of their duties or to persons acting in self-defense of their person or property in accordance with the law. Any person who shall violate this section shall be issued a citation and shall be subject to a fine of up to $750 for each violation.

Ed.: So even airsoft, paintball, and Nerf guns are illegal to shoot.

On Nov. 8 gun owners and supporters of the Second Amendment have an important choice to make. As a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, I will be casting my vote for Donald J. Trump and our Congressman Chris Collins. This election is critical to the future of our nation and our Second Amendment rights. We cannot afford to let out of touch politicians like Hillary Clinton take away our constitutional rights away.

"I have supported background checks. What I don't support is a list that the government can put you on that you don't have any appeal process to get off of. That's not who we are. There are governments in the world that, on their own, make lists that you may or may not know about, and things happen to you and your family because you're on that list. You have to have an appeal to prove that you're on a list.

"Jason Kander in the legislature got an 'F' from the NRA. Fewer than 10 percent of the members got an 'F.' You had to work hard to get an 'F.' This group, that's a big defender of the second amendment in our country and is really focused on that, I have an 'A' with them, he has an 'F.'

With either an extra conservative or liberal voice on the bench, the Heller decision could be read more broadly or narrowly, respectively. And since were almost guaranteed to see cases arguing for and against things like assault weapon bans (the court just declined to hear one of those cases in June, possibly to avoid a 4-4 decision) that could have a big impact on gun laws going forward.

Poll results released on Wednesday by Gallup confirm the trend toward the acceptance of the freedom to own guns and support of the Second Amendment. Sixteen years ago 59 percent of those polled favored a law which would make it illegal to manufacture, sell or possess semi-automatic guns known as assault rifles, while just 39 percent were opposed. Today those numbers have flipped: Just 36 percent support a ban, while 61 percent of those polled oppose it.

Even those polled who dont have a gun in their home oppose such a ban. Most surprisingly, however, is that support for such a ban has dropped even among those most likely to support one: Democrats.

In Cornville, Arizona, a homeowner, who is in his 80s, awoke to the sound of someone rummaging through cabinet drawers around 4:30 in the morning.

This happened in the 5600 block of East Whisper Ridge. The area is known as the Verde Santa Fe subdivision.

The elderly resident confronted the intruder with a handgun and ordered him to lie on the floor. The suspect then begged the homeowner not to shoot him.

He then escaped through the front door when the homeowner briefly left the room to access a phone. The suspect has not been caught, and none of the victims property was taken.

On the November 2016 ballot, Indiana voters will be asked to approve NRA-supported Question 1, which is an amendment to the Indiana Constitution guaranteeing the right to hunt, fish, and harvest wildlife as an individual right.

As previously reported, ballot language for Question 1 was created by Senate Bill 57, which passed the House of Representatives with a 95 to 1 vote and the Senate with a 43 to 7 vote. SB 57 was signed by Governor Mike Pence (R) on March 21, 2016.

Federal data showing annual accidental gun deaths in Tennessee soared to 105 from just 19 propelled a fierce firearms control campaign, but it turned out the stats were about as accurate as a two-dollar pistol.

The numbers, from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, seemed to show the Volunteer State led the nation in accidental shooting deaths due to a more than five-fold increase in 2014. But an eagle-eyed Second Amendment advocate's suspicions turned out to be right: The number of accidental deaths had actually dropped, from 19 to just five.

It was a big mistake, said John Lott, author of "More Guns, Less Crime," and president of the Crime Prevention Research Center.

My husband Mark and I are both gun owners. We respect and value the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans to own and use guns. But gun violence is a national crisis, with firearms claiming 33,000 lives each year. Its an incredibly complex problemonly a fraction of gun tragedies involve someone who is dangerously mentally ill.

Though there is no single cause or solution, we know responsible gun laws save lives. In states that have closed the loopholes that allow felons and domestic abusers to buy guns without a criminal background check, 46 percent fewer women are murdered with a gun by their intimate partners.

Consider an already large .45 ACP round, which has proven over many years to stop fights quickly, and render it 2-3 times more effective.

Thats some serious stopping power.

The 230 grain .45 ACP at 850 FPS was designed to stop or wound people quickly on a battlefield.

A benefit on the battlefield but not for civilian self-defense due to over penetration of the intended target and becoming a danger to others.

Hillary Clinton has made pushing for an assault weapon ban (similar to the 1994 law signed by her husband which failed to have any impact on crime) a key part of her anti-gun platform.

The thing is, most Americans dont want it.

File it under gun trades gone bad.

Well, I just had ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) at my door, wrote a guy named Will last month in a post to the Gun Owners of Maine Facebook page. One of the guns I traded to another person on Facebook was recovered (by police) and traced back to me. The gun I received in trade for it was apparently stolen. Looks like Im out a gun.

Headlines about accidental shooting deaths of children are heartbreaking and come too often.

A recent analysis of accidental shootings of minors from USA TODAY and the Associated Press found that during the first six months of 2016 one child was killed every other day.

As the Advertisers Andrew J. Yawn reported, one Montgomery victim of an accidental shooting was 3-year-old Quinton Gibson Jr., who found a gun in his parents closet in 2014, pulled the trigger with the gun pointed at his face and died.

How Bloombergs Bloated Ballot Initiatives Mock Freedom

Rich out-of-state anti-gun activists are pushing misleading ballot initiatives in Maine, Nevada and California this year. And theyll be coming to your state soon.

Here is a solid rule of thumb for those who wish to remain free: Do not allow politicians to reduce the complex to the simplistic.

Henry David Thoreau famously proposed that that government is best which governs least. And indeed it is. But that government is also best which governs slowly, carefully and deliberately. That democracy is best in which the people understand what is being debated in their name. And that country is best in which politics is conducted with openness, with nuance and with honorespecially where the fundamental rights of the people are at stake.

Is it legal to show up on Election Day with a gun? That may be a simple question, but the answer is complicated. If the polling place is on private property like a church or a synagogue, the owner gets to decide. If the polling place is in a school, thats off limits. Arlington registrar Linda Lindberg says the possibility of armed people showing up is concerning to Election Day volunteers.

The trio of armed invaders never knew what hit them. Out of the shadows on the extreme borders of a late night and an early September morning blazed a white knight of reason and raw justice. Chen Fengzhu, full and bravery and vengeance, leaped from the shadows with the remarkable celerity and drove the men from the premises brandishing the consistent retort of a handgun in her right hand and armed with a cellphone in her left.

A whopping 74 percent of firearms recovered by police at crime scenes in New York State came from somewhere else, according to a report released Tuesday by state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, but instead of underscoring a problem with so-called lax gun laws in other states, this actually confirms what gun rights activists have contended for years.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.' The right of the whole people, old and young, men, women and boys, and not militia only, to keep and bear arms of every description, and not such merely as are used by the militia, shall not be infringed, curtailed, or broken in upon, in the smallest degree; and all this for the important end to be attained: the rearing up and qualifying a well-regulated militia, so vitally necessary to the security of a free State. Our opinion is that any law, State or Federal, is repugnant to the Constitution, and void, which contravenes this right. [Nunn vs. State, 1 Ga. (1 Kel.) 243, at 251 (1846)]
