Organizers predicted 1,000 music-fans-turned-protesters would participate in the first ever Open Carry Guitar Rally Friday.

On Independence Day, Kyle Reynolds didnt carry a rifle, but he spread a message through six-string guitar.

...

A spokesperson for Open Carry Texas sent in this statement late Friday afternoon:

"Open Carry Texas supports the First Amendment just as vehemently as we support the Second Amendment. The exercise of one's rights to assemble as a free people is a fundamental aspect of what America, and Texas, is about. We wish the Open Carry Guitar Rally tremendous success."

Ed.: From the photos, it seems about a dozen showed up, not 1,000.

There are plenty of reasons to be proud of being a Vermonter -- too many to list as a matter of fact, but the following is not one of them: The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives found that in 2013, adjusting for population, Vermont has the highest rate of guns traced and recovered in other states after being used for criminal activity.

The ATFE study found that 23.5 guns per 100,000 Vermont residents -- 147 total -- were recovered in crimes committed outside the state.

A group of firearms enthusiasts has asked the Supreme Court to hold Director General Alan Purisima and other ranking police officials in contempt for violating a temporary restraining order against a new firearms law.

In a petition, the Peaceful Responsible Owners of Guns Inc. (Progun) accused the Philippine National Police (PNP) of failing and refusing to abide by the TRO particularly on the portion stopping the enforcement of the "waiver and consent requirement" for licensing and registration of firearms.

We used to believe that gunnies were fighting a losing battle, but our friend and author, David Kopel, told us that he expected that freedom and civilian weapons ownership would be able to stand firm against the UN gun control rabble, who are allied with our local anti freedom crowd.

To us, it seemed like the UN and the homegrown disarmament crowd would overwhelm us with their financial and numerical strength, even though their philosophy was based on the false premise that unilateral disarmament will be followed by peace.

The Florida Supreme Court will consider whether convicted felons have the right to claim immunity under the state's "stand your ground" self-defense law even if they are barred from possessing guns in the first place.

When Michael Bloomberg recently suggested that his pathway to heaven was already paved with his own golden "gun control" deeds, he overlooked one of the Ten Commandments, the one about giving "false testimony."

The billionaire ex-mayor's long-running gun prohibition campaign is built around falsehoods a pattern of deceit that has included counting a slain terrorism suspect as a victim of gun violence, the persistent use of a bogus claim about gun sales and background checks, and grossly inflating the number of school shootings.

As Well Armed Women we enjoy our own personal form of Independence Day each and every day!

By taking responsibility of our personal self defense, we gain a sense of independence which is both physical and emotional.

Physically, we are equipped and trained to carry and use a firearm effectively if, heaven forbid, our lives are at risk.

The paper, published June 4 in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, lists 5 Ls to ask an older gun owner: Is his or her gun loaded and locked; do little children visit the home; is the owner feeling low, and is he or she learned about proper use?

...

The 5 Ls suggest that senior citizens must automatically be considered safety risks if they are firearms owners - a notion we find rather insulting if not preposterous, said Alan Gottlieb, founder of the Second Amendment Foundation, based in Bellevue, Washington.

Luis Merino may be the loneliest gun rights activist in North America.

Like a kid in a pastry shop, he gazes longingly into the display cases of 9mm handguns and sleek semiautomatic rifles here at the Directorate of Arms and Munitions Sales, the only gun store in this entire country. Run by the Mexican military, it restricts purchases of such models to police departments.

The ones we can buy are over there, Merino said, pointing across the store to the deer rifles and small handguns, no larger than a .380 caliber.

As our great country celebrates 238 years of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, we hope youll take a moment from your grilling and lighting of fireworks to thank our founders for their hard work and patriotism.

It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.

While its corporate motto is Dont be evil, its critics might say Dont be Google. And this is especially true now that Google is saying Dont buy guns.

The search giant has announced that, starting in September, it will ban advertising of firearms, ammunition, and gun paraphernalia. As Google Support writes on its Dangerous Products or Services page, Our policy: We want to help keep people safe both online and offline, so we don't allow the promotion of some products or services that cause damage, harm, or injury.

PATRIOTS: As Congress celebrates the 4th of July as a kickoff to their month of summer vacation, the Second Amendment Foundation will continue doing what it does every day; protecting our Second Amendment Rights.

As a matter of fact, we just filed our latest lawsuit to protect gun rights in the State of North Carolina.

The Fourth of July: Guns, fireworks, cookouts, American flags, and freedom. Nothing is more American than that. Help us continue to keep firearms in the hands of law abiding Americans!

At a time when some businesses like Starbucks, Chipotle and most recently Target have discouraged responsible citizens from bringing guns into their stores FNC's The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson, on Thursday, showcased one Colorado restaurant owner who unashamedly lets her patrons exercise their Second Amendment rights.

When substitute host Shannon Bream asked Lauren Boebert if there had been any "pushback" to her restaurant's open-carry policy, the co-owner of Shooters Grill responded that they've enjoyed "broad support." Boebert then expressed gratitude to her customers, the Second Amendment, and her religion.

You don't do yourself any favors by becoming Exhibit A in your opponent's argument.

Gun rights advocates should take note.

The Open Carry Texas group found fame this spring by carrying semi-automatic weapons into stores and public spaces, but they also stirred up the other side. That resulted in Target stores last week "respectfully" asking customers not to bring firearms when they shop.

More than 300 people were invited on Facebook to walk down Cary Street on July Fourth with handguns, rifles and other so-called long guns proudly displayed.

Two showed up and they were the organizers of the midday event in the family-oriented Carytown shopping district.

I dont know why, said organizer Jason Spitzer, 29, when asked to explain the low turnout for what he described as an Independence Day demonstration to spread Constitutional awareness of Americans Second Amendment right to bear arms.

IL: More guns in proper hands equal fewer massacres

A recent Purdue University study showed that if every school had an armed resource officer and 10 percent of teachers could conceal carry, the majority of these incidents wouldnt have occurred or response times would have been cut by 10-15 minutes. This is typically the amount of time in which these incidents take place. Professor John Lott stated years ago that more guns in the proper hands equal less crime.

Schools spend millions on sports-related items but little on preventing these incidents. It has been known for decades that concealed carry is the best way to reduce such incidents, but crazy politicians only want to kill the Second Amendment. Instead innocent people get killed.
