Firearms enthusiasts had already been flocking to Maryland gun shops and shooting ranges since the June 23 Supreme Court decision-making it easier to obtain and carry a concealed weapon. But demand surged last week after Gov. Larry Hogan (R) issued an order bringing the state in line with the ruling.

Customers ranging from the curious to seasoned gun owners long frustrated by Marylands strict stance on carrying firearms have been calling and visiting gun shops in search of small, easily hidden handguns, firearms dealers said. State-mandated training classes have been booked well in advance, and instructors are sometimes in short supply.

Its a misconception that guns are illegal in Mexico, in fact, Mexicos constitution guarantees the right to arms, although the country does not believe a right to ownership translates into the right to easy access.

In Mexico, 58% of Mexicans are in favor of the possession of firearms in homes and 50% support the possession of weapons in businesses or workspaces, according to a recent survey Possession and use of firearms in Mexico , prepared by the agency dedicated to public opinion research and market research, Enkoll

A homeowner in Florida fired an AK-47-style gun at three invaders in self-defense, officials said.

According to Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons, one person has been arrested in the case, but officials are still looking for the other two suspects.

The home invasion took place just before midnight on July 7. The incident was captured on home surveillance video.

At least one of the suspects was armed, as seen in the video.

The tragic mass shooting in Highland Park, Illinois, this month has renewed calls for new gun control legislation, including a ban on so-called assault weapons. It also has raised new concerns about the Supreme Courts June 23 decision in New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen, in which the court ruled that the Second Amendment right to bear arms includes the right to carry a handgun outside the home.

Ignore the alarm bells. Highland Park, along with Cook County, Illinois, already has such a ban. The rifle used in the shooting apparently was legally obtained. The courts ruling pertains to self-defense, not committing mayhem.

A New Report Casts Doubt on the Assumption That Gun Law Violators Are a Public Menace

A new report on federal firearm offenses shows that the vast majority involve illegal possession, often without aggravating circumstances or a history of violence. The data undermine the assumption that people who violate gun laws are predatory criminals who pose a serious threat to public safety. They also highlight the racially disproportionate impact of such laws, which is especially troubling given their excessive breadth.

In FY 2021, the U.S. Sentencing Commission (USSC) reports, 89 percent of federal firearm offenders were legally disqualified from owning guns, typically because of a felony record. Half of those cases involved "aggravating criminal conduct."

In a continued effort to stop gun distributors from shipping so-called ghost gun parts to New York State, Attorney General Letitia James announced Thursday the filing of a "Memorandum of Law" and other affidavits seeking an injunction against six of 10 distributors cited in a lawsuit filed by her office last month in state Supreme Court.

James said the six companies not only sell "dangerous products" with the intent of having customers convert them into working firearms, but they'd even taken steps to assist those customers in the conversion process.

Attorneys J. Wyndal Gordon and Warren Brown, who are representing the teen (who just turned 15), noted their client has never been in trouble with the law and was clearly just frightened by a threatening confrontation by an adult man.

They would not confirm that the teen was in fact the shooter, but said if he was, it would clearly be a case of self-defense.

Police said Reynolds got into some sort of confrontation with a squeegee worker, went through the intersection at Light and Conway in downtown Baltimore before pulling over. Officers said Reynolds walked across the street and swung a bat at a group of squeegee workers on July 7. Reynolds was shot and ultimately died from the shooting.

A Georgia school district approved a policy Thursday that allows some employees to carry weapons in schools, excluding teachers and staff who supervise classrooms.

The Cobb County Board of Education voted 4-2 to pass the measure intended to improve security in Georgia's second-largest school district.

"This policy gives us other opportunities to enhance and increase the number of school resource officers in our district," Superintendent Chris Ragsdale said during the district's board meeting.

Since Congress has shown no interest in meaningful gun violence control, and since the Supreme Court apparently is unable to understand the words a well-regulated militia, and encourages all to carry weapons, perhaps it is time to approach the problem from a different angle.

What follows may appear simplistic, but consider that it is aimed at simple-minded people who think all problems, disagreements or disputes must be handled with a gun in ones hand.

It is past time for Congress to stiffen its spine and revive the national ban on AR-15-style semiautomatic weapons.

If the Independence Day massacre in Highland Park, Ill., was not evidence enough, consider that mass shootings killing or wounding four or more are now everyday occurrences, with more than 300 so far this year.

Hunters are deeply immersed in their tools. Guns, ammo, optics, knives, even our trucks, are all tools we need. Tents, cots, camp stoves and maybe a little bourbon for campfire watching. Blinds, treestands, trail cameras, camo, decoys, boats, canoes, boots, waderslike the road, the stuff we need goes on forever. Yet, here are three tools that you probably havent even thought about. Trust me, you need them. You just dont know it yet.

NY: Treatment of New York Bodega Clerk Shows What New York Will Do to People Who Defend Themselves With Guns

In the wake of the NYSRPA v. Bruen decision, New York politicians want the world to think that their constituents dont care about self defense. Doing things like carrying a gun for your own safety, they said, puts everyone at greater risk rather than helping to reduce crime.

These so-called leaders want us to think that New Yorkers embrace more of a European or British model of self-defense, where no one is justified in using deadly force, even when attacked in their own home. But, a recent case of self-defense that resulted in the defender being arrested on a charge of murder shines a light on this.

Assault Weapon Test Case: Will New York Revert To Interest-Balancing After Bruen?

To add insult to injury, the Seventh Circuit used the test that Justice Breyer championed in Heller, which he referred to again in Bruen. But Breyer was writing a dissenting opinion in Heller, and he stuck with it in Bruen. A dissenting opinion isnt the Courts holding. But many jurisdictions wanted the dissenting opinion to operate as a holding in Second Amendment cases. And so, they pretend the dissenting opinion in Heller was the majority ruling opinion. It is incredible. Such rulings of lower Courts utilizing a test that the majority in Heller did not countenance and explicitly and emphatically refuted would rely on that test, interest-balancing, anyway.

Why would the Census Bureau request customer records from American gun holster companies?

That is the question AmmoLand News is asking. Several major holster manufacturers/providers received notices from the Department of Commerce Census Bureau requesting order numbers, product descriptions, and where the items were being shipped. A few holster companies have refused to turn over the requested information to the federal government.

California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsoms new law to ban firearm advertising attractive to minors has criminalized First Amendment freedom of speech. Its not a law protecting children as the governor frames it.

Those who are backing this industry can no longer market to our children. The idea that we even have to do this is ridiculous, Gov. Newsom decried on Twitter. This law by the way goes into effect immediately. Because decent human beings, people with common sense, know that we should not be allowing this kind of disgusting marketing to go on another day.

Gov. Newsom held a .22-caliber youth model rifle and called it a weapon of war while pointing it directly at the cameraman.

Everytown Law, the legal arm of Everytown for Gun Safety, filed a complaint Friday morning asking the Federal Trade Commission to investigate a Georgia firearms manufacturer of marketing assault rifles to youths.

Everytown alleges Daniel Defense LLC, a privately held company in Black Creek, Georgia, is violating the FTC Act by marketing assault weapons with violent and militaristic imagery, unfairly implying that civilians can use their weapons for offensive combat-like missions, and appealing particularly to the thrill-seeking and impulsive tendencies of susceptible teens and young men who are attracted to violence and military fantasies.

Further, this week, Newsom signed a law in California allowing gun violence victims to sue firearms manufacturers for damages. This law was intended as a response to the string of high-profile mass shootings across the country, and comes just weeks after the Supreme Court ruled that Americans have a constitutional right to carry guns in public for self-defense, a decision that will likely lead to more Americans being armed.

Not happy with the prospect of ordinary, law-abiding citizens having access to their Second Amendment rights outside of the home, Montgomery County, possibly the most anti-gun county in the state, and one known for being soft on actual criminals, seeks to restrict carry in any way they can. The U.S. Supreme Court affirmed that the Second Amendment applies outside the home back in June, and then Governor Larry Hogan brought Maryland into compliance when he ordered state police to go shall-issue on Wear & Carry (W&C) permits. As a result, tens of thousands of Marylanders have put in their applications for a permit.

The latest Supreme Court ruling guarantees the Second Amendment right of people to carry their firearms in public space for self-defense, according to the Los Angeles Times. As we know, these new gun laws were advocated for because white people grew concerned about their gun rights. You know whos even more concerned than them? Black gun owners.

Amir Locke, Philando Castile, Atatiana Jefferson - the list of Black licensed gun owners killed by police for having a gun keeps growing. Kelly Sampson from gun safety organization Brady told NPR this is precisely why Black people feel left out from their constitutional protection.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
The gun gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind. Let your gun, therefore, be the constant companion of your walks. Thomas Jefferson
