"I was going to post Dom Rasos commentary yesterday but the words got in the way. This morning I read a post that convinced me that Rasos right: gun grabbers are lost in their masquerade. They believe that disarming Americans makes them safer. You heard that right. Not disarming criminals, although, you know, that too. Disarming civilians. They really believe it, too. And its not just ignorance. Heres the money shot from rfij.com, quoting the Director of the Harvard Injury Control Research Center and oft-cited gun control advocate Dr. David Hemenway . . ." ... |

"The Truth About Guns does not encourage nor condone shooting another human being unless that someone poses a direct, credible and imminent lethal threat, and imminence is imminent. It doesnt matter if the person or persons posing the threat are criminals, crazies or government representatives. Self-defense. Thats as far as we go. That said, war. Also: were not afraid to report the fact that gun bloggers (including yours truly) predict that slave state gun grabbing will end in tears, as the Brits are wont to say. "The NRA, being by far the largest and best known gun rights organization in the U.S. (although the New York Times has recently discovered Gun Owners of America, whose positions upset 'the Gray Lady' even more), has long borne the brunt of left-wing hate against armed American citizens, and also the blame for every violent crime committed with a gun. Since the atrocity at Sandy Hook Elementary last December, that vitriol has risen in pitch and volume to levels never heard before." ... |

"Fashion-forward gunnies who simply adored the Ruger 22/45 Lite with its gold lam upper and chic black lower will be depressed to know that the gold model has been replaced, at least temporarily, by an all black, bling-free, high testosterone, manly model. Well, why not? Itll go with anything, including pearls. Personally, I liked the golden-toned 22/45 Lite. It didnt look like every other modern pistol, which was a refreshing change. It didnt look 'scary.' While hard men may abjure even a touch of flash, I thought that nontraditional shooters might be tempted into the fold by a brightly-decorated pistol in a nontraditional color . . ." ... |

"Reading one of the posts at TTAG today, I had an epiphany. If gun grabbers claim that places like Chicago and California suffer from seepage of guns from other states that causes their crime rates to rise, then why do the places the guns originated from have lower crime rates? Heres why: it doesnt matter where a gun comes from. Chicago and California have higher rates of crime because those areas are more conducive to criminal activity. Slow police response (if any at all in certain areas of the South Side of the Windy City) and unarmed civilians make those places criminal-friendly zones. The laws there keep people who abide by them unarmed and helpless, but they dont stop bad guys . . ." ... |

Even the most fervently pro-disarmament media outlets are having real trouble making the case for UBCsonce they explain what that actually means. And how they would 'work.' QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any bands of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States. Noah Webster in "An Examination into the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution," 1787, in Paul Ford, ed., Pamphlets on the Constitution of the United States, at p. 56 (New York, 1888). |
