I am a junior in high school, and I regularly shoot guns, for target practice and hunting. Going to school can be hard because most kids dont understand how I live. It can be uncomfortable to be a gun-owning teenager right now, when high schools have become the centers of gun control protests. But there are many of us around the country.

The Associated Press and several other news agencies are reporting that newly-revealed documents show that some school officials and a sheriffs deputy had recommended that accused school shooting rampage suspect Nikolas Cruz be forcibly committed in 2016, but those concerns were never acted upon.

Instead, for more than a month since the shooting, the gun control lobby has helped galvanize high school students and exploited their fears to push an anti-gun agenda, and consciously helped shift responsibility to gun owners and the Second Amendment. Theyve had plenty of help from the national media.

When someone says the justice system is enough to protect you, point this Kentucky incident as evidence that a protective order sometimes isnt enough. Just weeks after his arrest led to the issuance of an order to stay away from his ex-wife, the man tried to break into her home. After the miscreant broke the glass on the front door and started fiddling with the lock, his ex-wife yelled through the door to stop or her boyfriend would shoot. The ex-husband paid the threat no mind, and was fatally shot. Police were investigating, but no charges have been filed in what appeared to be an act of self-defense.

Gov. Doug Ducey wants to close some reporting loopholes when background checks are done on gun buyers, but has no interest in requiring every firearm sale go through that system. In what the governors staff billed Monday as a comprehensive plan designed to deal with gun violence, Ducey is proposing to allow police to immediately take a firearm from someone they have probable cause to believe is a danger to self or others. A judge would have to hold a hearing within 24 hours to determine whether the person needs treatment.

Everytown For Gun Safety, an anti-gun activist group known for posting all kinds of false stats about gun violence in an effort to strip law-abiding citizens of their Second Amendment rights, tweeted a Newsweek article alleging that arming teachers would somehow make minority children in urban schools "less safe." Perhaps even more ridiculous than the premise of the article was the photo along with it: a gun, with a magazine that's loaded...backwards.

Acting FBI Deputy Director Andrew Bowdich testified last week that the Obama administration gave the order to purge more than 500,000 names from the background check database. The database, titled the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, is used to stop people with certain criminal convictions or open arrest warrants from buying guns. Speaking before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Bowdich said, It was the Department of Justices Office of Legal Counsel that reviewed the law and believed that it needed to be interpreted so that if someone was a fugitive in a state, there had to be indications that they had crossed state lines.

After weeks of irresponsible and false attacks on Second Amendment supporters for educating uninformed teenagers, New Jerseys anti-Constitution mafia is now targeting high school students for lawful behavior off-campus. Two students at Lacey Township High School were placed on 5 days of suspension, plus Saturday suspension, for posting pictures on social media of firearms with the caption of fun day at the range, according to NJ101.5. Apparently sharing a photo from a shooting range on social media disrupted the school climate, one of the students facing punishment said. Not only are they after the Second Amendment, they are also after the First Amendment.
