It was customary for more than a century to read about new firearm introductions first in the pages of American Rifleman. Now, you will likely find them here on AmericanRifleman.org, Facebook or some other digital platform first. When we broke the news on Facebook about the diminutive new Mossberg MC1sc polymer-frame 9 mm pistol, less than an hour later, one of our followers, Jeremy M., commented Go to bed Mossberg, youre drunk . I can assure you that the engineers who developed Mossbergs first new handgun in a century were not inebriated at the time. It will be the April cover story as written by Executive Editor Joe Kurtenbach, or you can read about it, and see a video, now at americanrifleman.org/mossberg/mc1sc.

When people think of Michigan States physical campus borders, they normally stop as far south as Mt. Hope Road. However, the true southern border is Jolly Road, and that is where one of MSUs hidden gems is located.
The Demmer Shooting Center, located at the intersection of Jolly and College Roads, is home to many firearms and archery shooting activities, education, talent training, events, and classes.
Highlighted by both an indoor and outdoor archery range, along with an indoor gun range, the Demmer Center is there for everyone no matter their background in shooting.
Primarily our clientele are people who are new to shooting or have never shot before, said General Manager Mike Galella.

What makes America unique? We believe it is our approach to personal freedom that's often referred to as the "American Dream" of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. As the sole global superpower America is the first and only country in history to dominate both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans our country faces an existential crisis: How to manage the empire while still maintaining the ideals of the republic?

A mistake in writing up an Ohio bill could inadvertently ban several types of already legal guns and must be fixed quickly, gun rights advocates say. At issue is legislation approved by lawmakers last year that allows off-duty police officers to carry firearms and phases in pre-emption of many local firearms restrictions, among other changes.

Our emails and phone calls paid off SB 1321, Senator Hanger's bill that would have banned a provider of Licensed Day Home from having a firearm on their person for self-defense, was DEFEATED in the Militia, Police and Public Safety subcommittee #1 by a 6 to 0 vote! That was it for bad bills this year.

Under the guise of preventing mass shootings, North Carolina lawmakers tried to chip away at the Second Amendment this week. State Rep. On a Saturday afternoon at a shooting club on Rio de Janeiros outskirts, 58-year-old court officer Mrcio Monteiro takes aim at a paper target. He fires standing, kneeling and with one hand. He and four others have just learned how to load and fire a .38-caliber revolver for the first time as part of a shooting safety and basics class, a requirement in Brazil before purchasing a gun. The students in addition to Monteiro, a doctor, an office administrator, a bus company owner and a nutritional supplement saleswoman each paid around $240 for the days instruction.

After a brief hiatus, Federal Ammunition reintroduces several centerfire rifle rounds loaded with bullets from Barnes and Nosler, plus expands options from Sierra, Berger and more.
In 1977, Federal Ammunition created its Premium line of centerfire rifle ammunition. In doing so, the company did something that was unheard of at the time. Rather than just load its own bullets into its centerfire rifle and handgun cartridges, Federal began using the top projectiles from companies across the industry and loading them to its own extremely tight specifications. For example, Federals initial 1977 loads were manufactured using Nosler Partition and the Sierra boat-tail hollow point bullets.

The world of the military M16 and, by extension, the civilian AR-15 market, has become dominated by M4-style firearms. This means, in the broadest sense, a 14.5" or 16" barrel and a telescoping buttstock. The utility and do-all capability of the M4-style carbine is hard to deny, and its ubiquity makes it easy to forget that the AR-15 started out as a 20"-barreled rifle as opposed to the more dominant present carbine form. But the full-size M16/AR-15 has both a storied history and some distinct advantages that make re-visiting the rifle-length AR a worthwhile journey.

The Kentucky Senate has passed a bill that eliminates the requirement for a permit for carrying a concealed weapon. By not requiring a permit, the bill, SB 150, also eliminates the need for training to own a gun. Open-carry of guns was already allowed without a permit. This bill extends that lack of regulation to concealed carry as well.

Whether you are new or seasoned in an activity, you reach a plateau when it comes to self-improvement on your own. That is the level where you cannot figure out what you are doing wrong (or right, for that matter). You dont have to like the idea, but it is the reality. Lets face it, if you had all the answers, you probably would be in a different profession. Instead, you seek out those with greater experience than you who can lend their critical eye. It is common in many other activities, from golf to marriagewe like to seek help to better our game. There are barriers that can affect training, but there are ways to overcome those barriers.

Georgias Democratic lawmakers have filed a flurry of bills this session that take nearly every possible approach to enacting more gun control in the state. The proposals include efforts to require those who apply for gun licenses to get hands-on training before they carry concealed weapons, repeal the campus gun bill that was approved in 2017, and rid the state of a law that requires records be purged after five years for those who were involuntarily hospitalized for mental health treatment.

We hear it all the time around the range and always read it on the forums: "Hey I have that same rifle. What's your go-to load?" I cringe every time I hear it. For starters, you don't have "the same" gun. You have the same model. Even if that gun was the next one off of the line, there will still be subtle differences and, with them, the requirement for different handloads that perform well. Some say this isn't true, and it's fair to note that slight differences in guns aren't always apparent unless the shooter and the firearm are capable of consistent, sub-MOA accuracy. However, with more factory guns capable of this benchmark, this fact becomes more noticeable.

A school running a community arts center in Ohio was forced to stop advertising a party game where kids are instructed to eliminate the president with toy guns, after it sparked national outrage. The game entitled President had been advertised as a part of Nerf gun-themed party organized by the Olmsted Performing Arts community center in Berea, a suburb of Cleveland. There is one president with body guards. Everyone else tries to eliminate or shoot the president, read the description of the game on the centers website, since deleted.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
No kingdom can be secured otherwise than by arming the people. The possession of arms is the distinction between a freeman and a slave. He, who has nothing, and who himself belongs to another, must be defended by him, whose property he is, and needs no arms. But he, who thinks he is his own master, and has what he can call his own, ought to have arms to defend himself, and what he possesses; else he lives precariously, and at discretion. James Burgh, Political Disquisitions: Or, an Enquiry into Public Errors, Defects, and Abuses [London, 1774-1775].
