It had been filed against gun manufacturers and distributors whose weapons were used by a white supremacist who wounded three children at a Jewish day care and killed a postal worker." ...

"Whats behind this nationwide outbreak of safety?" ...

"One key program is 'Project Safe Neighborhoods,' introduced shortly after President Bush took office." ...

"In just two years, federal gun prosecutions are up 36 percent, and 93 percent of those convicted criminals have been sentenced to prison. This explains why gun crimes are down an amazing 32 percent: The criminals who would be using illegal guns are being caught, locked up and sent away. And all this is being done without infringing on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens."

-------
Of course it does infringe on the Tenth Amendment and vilifies gun crime as somehow more heinous than, say, fatal stabbings, but no one wants to talk about that.

" 'Mommyism,' whether its the 'Soccer Moms' that embrace vote wise a socialist America-hater, womanizer and rapist/draft-dodger, or whether personified by swooning, intellectually-challenged Million Mommies, conveys a clear unmistakable message: Subservience to a gutless, spineless, behind-the-scenes legalistic manipulator that doesnt even remotely encompass what is generally accepted as American maleness, is preferred over a more meaningful relationship with a real man as concerns feminists. It seems that all our leaders are smirking, lying, gutless wonders who cant do a brake job, change a sparkplug, hold a hammer properly, or shoot a gun. This is what 'women' want?" ...

The Post went on to report that President Bush had pledged to rein in government growth, and that hes confounded by these statistics. This expansion should not have happened with the GOP controlling two branches of government."

"While officials interested in gaining more control over the Internet express concerns for 'development' and 'governance' of Internet services to poorer nations, they should be wary of the consequences of establishing a truly international Internet governing body. In 'Caught in the Seamless Web: Does the Internet's Global Reach Justify Less Freedom of Speech?' Cato Adjunct Scholar Robert Corn-Revere points out that nations such as China and Saudi Arabia -- which have been vocal about establishing an international governing body for the Internet -- have highly restrictive policies against online free expression."

"Revere argues that the United States must be vigilant in preventing the lowered free-speech standards of other nations from watering down our own constitutional protections. 'Other nations may treat their citizens as fragile children if they wish, or worse, as enemies of the state,' he says. 'But U.S. courts should not permit the seeds of foreign censorship to be planted on U.S. soil by finding that such restrictions are enforceable here.' "

"Virtually all controversy, it turns out, clusters around the Separation of God and Government issue. Only one writer that I'm aware of, a libertarian, has brought up the Tenth Amendment point. Hint: If the Constitution doesn't specifically say the Fed Gov can do something, then it can't do it. No governmentite has any Constitutional authority to ladle taxpayer dough into a charity's soup bowl. So why are Republicans and Democrats alike, along with their enabling media pundits, silent about the Tenth Amendment? Because they all want the equal opportunity to ignore it. Sorta like a secret handshake. Don't annoy me with the Tenth Amendment and I won't irritate you with it. And, horrors, don't remind the public of it. Prez Bush is just the latest in a very long line of politicians of both animal mascot species who take the oath to preserve and protect the Constitution only to violate it at earliest opportunity."
