Until recently, Harris had rarely mentioned her status as a firearm owner, in line with her partys emphasis on curtailing access to guns in a country regularly rocked by armed crime and mass shootings. But in a tight election with Republican Donald Trump, the 59-year-old Democrat has begun to play up her gun-owning credentials.
Here are eight more famous gun owners that may shock you:

A man has been arrested after reportedly stabbing another man in self-defense Wednesday night in Lexington.

According to an arrest citation, Joseph Hamblin, 31, was sitting near South Broadway and West Vine near Rupp Arena when he claimed he was punched in the face by a man who was geeking out.

With the new Self-Defense Revolver from Diamondback just 10 months on the market, the Florida-based gunmaker has announced a new model with an understated finish.

The .357 Magnum snub-nosed SDR was teased at SHOT Show this year and has been a hit on the market. It is crafted from forged stainless steel and uses a stubby 2-inch barrel with a 45-degree target-crowned muzzle. A six-shot double-action/single-action revolver with an exposed spur hammer, it has low-profile fiber-optic sights and a streamlined push-button cylinder release.

The incident occurred in Reston, Virginia when Officer Peter Liu responded to a welfare check at an apartment complex on Sunrise Valley Drive.

Liu, a 14-year veteran with crisis intervention training, was checking on 33-year-old Sydney Wilson after concerns were raised about her mental health. Wilson, who had previously interacted with police, was known to be in a distressed state.

In a lame attempt to run away from her radical anti-gun and anti-Second Amendment record, Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris has spent the last several weeks claiming that she is a gun owner. This, of course, is irrelevant to her extreme record of attacking gun rights.

In fact, Harris isnt even the first anti-gun politician from San Francisco to own a gun. The late Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) spent much of her career working to diminish Second Amendment rights and, like Harris, advocating for gun confiscation. However, when her family came under attack from left-wing terrorists while she was a San Francisco supervisor in the mid-1970s, Feinstein sought the protection of a .38-caliber revolver.

The National Rifle Association has taken aim at Democratic nominee for president Kamala Harris in advertisements that suggest if she is elected, gun owners could be facing a government program that would force people to turn in their firearms.

The commercial said, They dont call her confiscation Kamala for nothing. Dont take it from us.

In the ad, Harris says, I support a mandatory buyback program.

The voiceover continues, A mandatory buyback program? That means the government is forcing you to turn in your firearms. To what lengths would Kamala go? Well, she doesnt even support the individual right to own a firearm.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday overturned a lower court ruling from Pennsylvania that allowed residents under 21 to carry firearms in public, though the justices declined for now to hear arguments in the case themselves.

At issue was a state law that barred 18-to-20 years olds from open carrying firearms during declared states of emergencies. The courts decision tosses a federal appeals court ruling that found the law violated the Second Amendment.

The Supreme Court did not explain its ruling and no dissents were noted.

This case is simple.

No historical tradition supports Californias modern requirement that peaceable nonresidents who are already permitted to carry firearms in their home states submit to a burdensome process to obtain a California license to carry (CCW permit) if they wish to exercise their Second Amendment rights while visiting or passing through the state.

On the contrary, laws historically exempted travelers from such local restrictions on their right to defend themselves while traveling.

What was expected to be a relatively straightforward agenda item Wednesday approving updated safety policies for Grand Traverse County employees turned into a protracted commission discussion after several commissioners objected to a longstanding county policy prohibiting employees from carrying weapons while working or on county property, as well as at any location where an employee is representing the county for business purposes.

Public opinion polling about American gun laws is nuanced, but majorities have favored stricter measures since 2015 in Gallup polling. That consensus, however, has yet to result in meaningful legislation addressing any facet of America's epidemic of gun violence, nor has it led either the Democratic or Republican nominee for president to focus on the issue in the 2024 election. The GOP nominee, former President Donald Trump, has not released many formal plans to alter gun laws in the United States, and so his positions on the matter mostly have to be inferred from statements and past policy decisions.

We have a Second Amendment and right to bear arms, essentially, Trump said. And Im very strongly an advocate of that I think you need that. I think that if you ever tried to get rid of it, you wouldnt be able to do it. You wouldnt be able to take away the guns, because people need that for security. They need it for entertainment, and for sport and other things but they also, in many cases, need it for protection.

NRA members and gun owners will gather in support of Second Amendment rights, and attendees will hear from NRA leaders and gun rights champions about what the outcome of the November elections means for Constitutional freedoms, a press release noted, the Savannah Morning News reported last week. The paper now reports the cancellation is due to a campaign scheduling conflict.

The cancellation comes after a difficult town hall in Miami, hosted by Univision, featuring undecided Latino voters. It also comes after the first two days of early voting in Georgia broke records. More than half-a-million people have cast their ballots already, which the Secretary of States Office described as massive numbers.

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said she will not renew a public health order that temporarily banned carrying firearms in public parks and playgrounds in Albuquerque, the state's largest city.

The temporary order, which went into effect in September 2023, was intended to slow gun violence in the metro area, but high-ranking state officials, gun advocates and members of her own Democratic Party widely viewed it as a violation of the Second Amendment right to bear arms.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO spoke at a town hall in Folsom, PA Thursday, telling those attending that he plans to probably do half a dozen events across the state in the final push before November 5.

I cant emphasize enough that Pennsylvania is, I think, the linchpin in this election, Musk said after telling the crowd that he was there in person because the stakes are so high.

A lever action rifle? Cmon this isnt the 19th century. why would anyone want one of those museum pieces? Ive heard that from time to time, and Im amazed every time I hear it. Modern lever actions, like the Smith & Wesson 1854 Lever Action Rifle, have everything necessary to take this thumper from deer hunting to self-defense.

A mass shooting at a Georgia high school in September thrust the issue of gun violence to the forefront of the presidential race.

Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump agree that gun violence is a major problem, but they offer strikingly different views on how to address it.

The U.S. Supreme Court is set on Tuesday to consider the legality of a regulation issued by President Joe Biden's administration cracking down on "ghost guns," largely untraceable firearms whose use has proliferated in crimes nationwide.

The administration is appealing a lower court's decision declaring that the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives exceeded its authority in issuing the 2022 rule targeting parts and kits for ghost guns, which can be purchased online and quickly assembled at home.

Whether youre a traditionalist at heart with a stable of vintage rifles or are looking for something new but used to make this a throwback deer season, heres a great place to start.

These are each time-proven, historic, and wonderfully old-school chamberings and rifles to make this a red wool type of whitetail fall. Spoiler alert: you dont need anything built of carbon fiber, named Creedmoor, requiring a chassis, or even a fancy riflescope to bag a buck this year. Take a look.

For the past several years, anti-gunners have insisted so-called gun violence a term applying to anything involving gun-related injury or death, including homicide, suicide, self-defense or accidents is a public health crisis.

It was and remains a preposterous assertion. This past June, Joe Bidens Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy, made it official policy, at least so long as the Biden administration remains in power. As the governments official position, it will allow Capitol Hill anti-gunners to introduce all kinds of restrictive legislation aimed at ratcheting down Second Amendment rights by using public health as an excuse.
